Once upon a time... - that's how all fairy tales begin.
Who hasn't heard the enchanting Sorbian, Russian and Czech fairy tales about the witch Baba Jaga with her house and chicken leg, the water sprite, the golden little farm or the firebird? There is a magical place for all these fairytale adventures, where witches and water sprites meet on a magnificent farm. The Dissen Museum of Local History will be the venue for the Slavic Fairytale Festival.
On the weekend of 13 and 14 July, all fairy tale fans, young and old, are cordially invited from 11:00 to 17:00. You can let your imagination run wild, listen to countless fairy tales or experience them as a puppet show. Together with all kinds of magical characters, you will embark on a journey into the fascinating world of Slavic fairy tales and legends.
On the museum meadow, between the pit houses of the dreamy medieval settlement of Stary Lud or in the museum, many storytellers, puppeteers and songwriters meet in the open air. Sorbian/Wendish and Slavic fairy tales are brought to life here. The actors and performers dress up as mystical legendary and fairytale characters and interact with the children and the audience. The festival offers handicrafts for children, a painting competition, exhibitions and other activities. Historical outdoor games for children invite families to join in. Visitors can immerse themselves together in a mysterious time, join in the excitement and learn about the Slavic roots of our homeland.
