The Stadt- und Industriemuseum Guben is presenting an extraordinary special exhibition from 4 March to 29 June 2025. On display are four newly discovered paintings by the important artist Alfred Heinsohn, which are being made accessible to the public in their original form for the first time.
Alfred Heinsohn (1875-1927) was a German Impressionist painter who became known above all for his landscape and industrial motifs. His works are characterised by a special use of light and finely tuned colour compositions that capture the atmosphere of the scenes depicted. Heinsohn was able to unite the dynamics of industrialisation and the tranquillity of nature in expressive pictures. In addition to his industrial motifs, he also devoted himself to portraits and cityscapes that reflected the life and society of his time. Despite his importance, Heinsohn was forgotten for a long time until his work was rediscovered and reappreciated in recent decades.
The four discovered works offer a unique insight into Heinsohn's oeuvre and open up perspectives on his artistic legacy. This discovery is not only a cultural highlight for art lovers, but also an important addition to Alfred Heinsohn's oeuvre.
Visitors are cordially invited to experience the impressive paintings in the Guben City and Industrial Museum.
