Cottbus ceramist Heidrun Bastian constructs her objects from clay slabs. Not rotationally symmetrical, they are free in their form. Organic, lively and bold, but always harmonious.
The surfaces emphasise the vessel shapes in terms of structure and colour. They are embossed or stamped. The glazes, some of which are unique, are very colourful and present. A symbiosis of surface structure and colourfulness creates interesting graphics on the vessels and makes each of her ceramics unique.
Another creative expression can be found in her collages. By gluing together various heterogeneous elements made of paper and found objects, a new, harmonious whole is created. Spatial objects and items on a two-dimensional surface give rise to a three-dimensional work of art. These are therefore assemblages. Each element remains recognisable as such. Nevertheless, they interact with each other and thus create a new context that allows further perspectives. Her collages and ceramics complement each other harmoniously and form an interesting ensemble with the background "Moving Forms" and "Fragments of Transience".
