From the Elbe Sandstone Mountains to Central Saxony, the Elbe is flanked on both sides by numerous Bronze Age, Early Iron Age and Slavic castles. The remains of the castle ramparts are still impressive monuments of early settlement and important archaeological sites. As part of our excursion, we will explore the Dresden Elbe valley with its charming vineyards. The excursion starts at the castles in Pillnitz and ends west of Meissen in Diesbar-Seußlitz. This is the site of the largest Bronze Age fortification in Europe. The number of participants is limited. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. We will stop off at a restaurant for lunch.
Some carpooling opportunities are available in the atz minibus. We are of course happy to coordinate further carpooling opportunities.
The route, the individual stops and the costs will be published in good time on the atz Welzow website. The meeting point will be announced upon registration.
