Domicile of the local historians
Building / plot situation
The "Heimatverein Welzow e.V." has set up its Heimatstube on the ground floor of a residential building. The collection is housed in two rooms of a former shop. The first room houses the permanent exhibition. A second room is available for special exhibitions and the storage of documentation and the photo collection.
Characteristics
With the Heimatstube, the association aims to document the history of the town of Welzow through museum exhibits on various topics. The main focus of the exhibition is on the coal and glass industries, the history of schools and associations.
Special exhibitions / accompanying offers
In the room provided for this purpose in the Heimatstube, the association organises at least one special exhibition per year, which is mainly filled with loans.
The association is very committed to establishing a continuous exhibition tradition in the Heimatstube. Mainly art exhibitions with regional relevance are to take place here.
A major focus of the local history society is the preparation and publication of local history publications.
Offers for children - With Kobi to the museum
Kobi - the little house ghost - is at home in the museum. He lives there in a slipper under the stove. At midnight, he eavesdrops on the old museum pieces when they tell stories about the past. He tells these exciting stories to the museum staff, who then pass them on to the children - stories from the old, old days.
