From dinosaur egg to wolf

The new exhibition complements the existing exhibition on urban and regional history. In response to the increasing demand for natural history educational programmes, the collection is presented on around 120 m2 in the basement with a view to current discussions on nature conservation, environmental issues, global warming and the phasing out of fossil fuels. The permanent natural history exhibition is shown on the "Cottbus Naturally" floor. This is the former air-raid shelter and the historic vault of the former savings bank building in Cottbus Bahnhofstraße, which was built in 1937. The basement has an exhibition area of around 120 square metres. All three rooms are barrier-free.
We take a look at the development of our natural area as well as the central moment for Lusatia: brown coal from its creation to the desired structural change. The discovery of today's flora and fauna, combined with aspects of their protection, offers further references to the city of Cottbus and the surrounding region.
