Floral ornaments such as flowers, blossoms and tendrils are an important part of Sorbian-Wendish culture. They symbolise blossoming and can therefore be found on many traditional costumes and Easter eggs. Almost all flowers have a special meaning. Be it joy, love, longing or jealousy: There is a suitable flower for every mood and every occasion. In addition to roses, tulips and carnations, delicate, small-flowered beauties and wildflowers also have their place in the dictionary of floral language.
Discover flower-decorated Easter eggs and richly decorated pieces of traditional Sorbian-Wendish costume in our Easter exhibition. The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Easter egg artist Carola Stauber from Hoyerswerda.
