"Women - Mothers - Goddesses"
Category : Current
On Sunday 22 October, a special exhibition opened at the Lower Sorbian Museum of Local History in Dissen. Under the theme "Women - Mothers - Goddesses", sculptures by Regina Herrmann, a graduate designer and artisan from Wermsdorf, are on display. The variety of materials that the artist uses in her works is extremely diverse. She works with textiles alongside bark cloth, hornet paper alongside papier-mâché and also uses leather, Elbe driftwood and other natural materials. Each of these materials lends the sculpture a special expression. In order to breathe life into a dead material, she gives it a part of her soul. In this way, the figures become a part of her. Regina Herrmann deals with the divine, the feminine, mysticism and cultures - especially with Sorbian legendary figures. Interested parties can immerse themselves in the artistic world of Regina Herrmann until 25 February 2024.
