Museum director as guest of the Federal President

On 10 January 2019, the Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had invited to the New Year's Reception at Bellevue Palace. In addition to representatives of public life, around 70 citizens from all federal states who have rendered outstanding services to the common good were invited. Among the invited guests was the director of the Dissen local history museum, Ms Babett Zenker. In addition to her work at the Lower Sorbian Museum of Local History, she is committed in many ways to the interests of the Sorbian/Wendish minority. She is an honorary member of the board of trustees of the Foundation for the Sorbian People and a member of the Sorbian Cultural Tourism Association. As a long-standing member of the rbb broadcasting council and deputy chairperson of the programme committee, she is committed to a broad presence of the minority in the media. With the invitation, the President thanked Ms Zenker for her voluntary commitment. Following the defile of representatives from all areas of public life, the Federal President invited the citizens to a joint lunch in the Great Hall of his Berlin official residence.
