An event as part of the project "Commemorating Otto Nagel on the 130th anniversary of his death".
Salka-Valka Schallenberg reads and Bernd Schallenberg plays the acoustic guitar. It's always the same questions that are asked from generation to generation: Where do I come from? Who am I? In this case, the author asks her grandparents Walentina and Otto Nagel. The granddaughter is transported to the place of her childhood, their home. In fictitious encounters, the author learns things told and unsaid about Otto and Walentina Nagel. Stages of a life: from the Weimar Republic to National Socialism and the first years in the GDR.
The author Salka-Valka Schallenberg deals with the biography of her grandparents. Very emotional and personal. But she uses historical sources to refute old and new ways of thinking. The granddaughter draws on her grandparents' notes, letters and publications as well as files from the Nazi Reich Security Main Office and other archive material. An exciting piece of research that reminds us, especially in these troubled times, of the self-sacrificing fight against right-wing ideas, anti-Semitism and terror.
Event in German language. Admission: €2.50
