The Open Monument Day is one of the largest cultural events in Germany. We look forward to your visit! Since 1993, it has been coordinated nationwide by the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD). On Sunday, the 08 September 2024hundreds of listed buildings and historical sites in Brandenburg open their doors to visitors. These include many interesting places such as museums, churches, castles, old factory buildings, craft businesses and archaeological sites in all districts of Brandenburg. Many of them are normally not or only partially accessible to the public. The motto of this year's Open Monument Day is "True signs. Contemporary witnesses of history". We cordially invite you to visit these places and discover the history behind them! The aim of Monument Day is to sensitise the public to the importance of cultural heritage and to arouse interest in the preservation of monuments. In expert guided tours, historians, monument conservators, archaeologists, restorers and craftsmen inform visitors about the protected buildings and provide insights into their work.
