Exhibition about Johann Friedrich Fritze in the Protestant Church Kolkwitz

The exhibition pays tribute to the life and work of the Kolkwitz pastor, writer and demographer Johann Friedrich Fritze (20.09.1747 - 15.01.1819) in text, images and sound. He was the first to translate the Old Testament into Lower Sorbian and had it printed largely at his own expense. The exhibition is complemented by portraits of important contemporaries. To the left of the entrance are the graves of Pastor Fritzes and his daughter-in-law Eleonore Auguste, née Elsasser. The original gravestone of Pastor Fritze in the Wendish language is in the exhibition room. In the church, two wooden panels under the right gallery provide information about the history of the Niedersorben / Wends.

In earlier decades, the future landscape was not considered when mining coal. Extraction rates counted and environmental issues were hardly taken into account. The fate of the inhabitants and church communities was marked by economic constraints and insufficient compensation. The theme is illustrated with 27 models of mined churches, 4 film stations with short films about the communities in which those affected describe their backgrounds and fates, 18 maps of areas that no longer exist, and original exhibits of destroyed churches. Historical facts, last services, reburials, whereabouts of church property, resettlement practices, church replacement construction, church relocations, saved congregations, threatened places are documented for posterity.

Historical dolls and toys at the Kackrow Toy Museum

Doll's carriages and doll's houses, kitchens, shops, dolls and toys - essentially from a period from around 1880 to 1960 - are on display in the exhibition. Schildkröt dolls, Käthe Kruse dolls, porcelain head and mass dolls, teddies and also mannequins are presented. However, visitors should bring time and quiet with them, because many things in the showcases can only be seen on a second tour.
